Meet the charities

Realema offers bursaries to talented and dedicated students, who could not otherwise afford a tertiary degree, to study for a Bachelor of Education degree, while gaining valuable work experience as full-time teacher interns at top schools.

They help these bursary recipients to escape a life of poverty by building sustainable careers in teaching, while also developing the passionate and professional teachers that South Africa so badly needs.

Nthabiseng Hlongwane's dream was to create a safe place for children in the Doornkop community.

Thanks to various donations the pre-school now has brick classrooms, a sickroom, a kitchen, jungle gyms and a vegetable garden. Five teachers care for and feed numerous children everyday. A true safe-place for the community.

Little Artist School Project started in 1995, in an orphanage home in Marshalltown, downtown Johannesburg. Edward Selematsela was working as a child and youth care-giver, when an idea came to him: the children had nothing to do before and after school.

Little Artists encourage the development of artists from previously disadvantaged backgrounds, who have no funds for formal art tuition.

Founded in 2010, Project Playground promotes educational, recreational and supportive programs empowering vulnerable children and youth in the townships of Cape Town. Resulting in self-reliant and self-equipped contributors to society.

By being part of Project Playground, children gain self-esteem, determination and belief in the future, which then has a ripple effect on the communities surrounding them.

This is accomplished through our four programmes: the Saturday School Programme, the Teacher Development Programme, the Intern-Teacher Training Programme and the Academic Scholarship Programme.
